7 Evaluation Questions
- In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?
Overall our film follows the traditional genre theme as we have a main character who loses his memory and another character who works for a secret organisation who is interogating him. To help with this and after a very long time we found an appropriate piece of thriller music that fits in with our scene. The locations we used also fits in as well as it is seen in a gloomy dark location which helps to set the mood as well as costumes etc.
- How does your product represent particular social groups?
Our individual product does not target or represent a specific social group and as such we tried to make so that it could suitable for all people (by this we mean 15+). We tried to make an opening that we felt that everyone would would enjoy however as we were making it we took into consideration our target audience who were our peers so that was an important factor.
- What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I believe that the media institution who would best distribute our film might be Vertigo because they distributed films such as The Pusher and The Escapist and our film seems like it could fit in with those kinds of film. However there were other choices such as Columbia pictures as they distributed The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.
- How did you attract/address your audience?
To attract and address your audience we made a series of questionnaires and surveys for the general public and students to fill in. We used the results of these surveys to base our film on thriller as it was seen as the most popular genre. we also compared our film to others such Indiana Jones and Seven and our target audience is 15+.
- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
From constructing this product I have learnt to use technologies such as Final Cut Express and Adobe After Effects. It was these two programs that we used the most and because I and the group as whole have a good knowledge of how to use the programs.
- Lookin back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Lookin back at the preliminary task I know what it takes to make a good opening film. While having the footage alone is good and well you need a lot more if you want to rake in your target audience. Things such as special effects, sound, even keeping to a good production scheldule are important tasks that we should all follow. By being able to follow all of these tasks you can make a good piece of work that can be considered be good by your target audience.
- Who would the audience be for your product?
I have decided that the audience for our product would people who are 15+, I believe this mainly because of the tone of our film. The film we have made is clearly not suitable for children because of the use blood and violent themes. I feel that making our film 15+ is a logical deduction as a lot of people around that age group will want to watch a film such as ours

Ignotus Opening 4th Cut
This is the fourth cut of our film opening. The changes we have made with this are that the film overall no longer feels like a trailer. There are few things that we need to change and final product will be uplaoded once we finish these small changes.
Ignotus Opening 3rd Draft
This is the third draft of our opening and the difference between this draft and the second one is the inclusion of an echo effect and updated voices:
